Residential is a newer segment for us, following demand for Home Elevator among private households — often families planning for aging-in-place, or a villa where a lift is part of the original design rather than a retrofit.
Why households usually start looking
The two most common starting points are a household with an older or mobility-limited family member, and a multi-storey home or villa being designed or renovated with long-term comfort in mind. Naming which of these applies helps frame the rest of the conversation.
Available space is the real constraint, not the wish list
A Home Elevator has to fit an existing or planned shaft area, and that space is usually more limited in a house than in a commercial building. Measuring the actual available footprint — including on each floor it will pass through — comes before discussing cabin design.
New build versus retrofit changes the whole conversation
A villa still on the drawing board can plan the shaft, structure, and entrances around the elevator from the start. A retrofit into an existing home has to work within walls, floors, and finishes that already exist — which usually means an early site visit matters more than it would for new construction.
Planning for who will maintain it later
A household-owned elevator still needs routine maintenance and, eventually, spare parts. It is worth discussing service access and maintenance expectations at the planning stage, rather than after the unit has already been installed in a finished home.
